USJapan WizKidz International STEM Excursion
The USJapan WizKidz International STEM Excursion (UWISE) is a global initiative to expose 1000 high school graduates from Japan to postsecondary educational opportunities in the United States by 2014. UWISE leverages the power of leading U.S. institutions educational models by exposing students in Japan to learning opportunities in science and technology in collaboration with some of the top Universities and Colleges in the United States. Based, in the city of Atlanta, Georgia; UWISE introduces graduating high school students from Japan and abroad to hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) driven programs based on classroom curriculum relevant in the 21st Century science and technology workplace.
Our goal is to arrange STEM learning opportunities for international high school students that offer a two week program designed to provide activities, experiments, projects, and field excursions that enrich the students mathematics, science, technology, and communication skills. Our program offers aspiring engineers and scientists the opportunity to explore the technical side of U.S. college life while engaging in hands-on activities comprised using real-world scenarios. The UWISE project aims to strengthen Japan's capacity in STEM while developing the next generation of Japanese scientists, engineers and doctors and equip these students with real-world skills to be socially engaged and enhance science and technology learning initiatives within their own communities. The program also offers continued educational support and opportunities by hosting webinars and remote learning technologies led by top U.S. university faculty and graduates.
The cornerstone of the UWISE program is providing students from Japan the opportunity to experience a science and technology learning experience in some of the United States top educational institutions. Through direct engagement with university faculty and industry professionals, we offer important insight into STEM based activities that focus on careers that have a high relevance for students in other countries. The learning experience will offer a highly leveraged investment to address a decline of interest in science and technology world-wide.
